State passes legislation aimed at 'patent trolls'

Requested by state Attorney General Bob Ferguson, the Patent Troll Prevention Act will help shield businesses from predatory and bad faith patent infringement claims and demands. The bill passed the Senate 41-6 in February and was approved Monday by a 94-3 vote in the House. It can now be signed by the governor.

Driver arrested after bicyclist struck by car

A bicyclist was struck in Walla Walla by a car Wednesday evening driven by a man who was arrested two blocks from the scene for suspicion of driving under the influence, officials said.
