Female Athlete of the Week: Caitlin Duncan
Duncan scored 21 points in the Walla Walla Community College Warriors’ 56-50 loss to Yakima, and then put up 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in WWCC’s 67-36 rout of Wenatchee on Saturday.
Male Athlete of the Week: Carlos Angel
Angel led the Pioneers to their first Greater Oregon League victory of the year on Saturday in the Mac-Hi gym. He scored 18 points in the Pioneers’ 47-46 win over Ontario.
Dani Carlman — Walla Walla University basketball
Carlman scored 14 points, dished eight assists and grabbed four rebounds in the Wolves’ 65-52 win over Northwest Indian to open their own Hoops Classic. She then had 11 points and eight boards in the Classic title tilt as WWU won the tournament with a 67-64 victory over Salish Kootenai.
Patrick Giedeman — Wa-Hi swimming
Giedeman led the Blue Devil boys to a 99-84 dual meet victory over Wenatchee. He won the 500 free in a state-qualifying time of 5:00.73, and 24 seconds faster than any competitor, as well as winning the 200 Free and swimming on the winning 200 and 400 Free Wa-Hi relay teams.
