WALLA WALLA -- City residents will get a chance to peek inside the new Edison Elementary School during a tour Tuesday.
The School Board will be getting a tour of the building before its regular meeting, and anyone interested in joining is asked to meet at Edison, 1315 E. Alder St., at 6 p.m. The tour should last about an hour.
Edison Elementary has undergone a complete reconstruction following approval of a $19.5 million bond in Feb. 2007. The school is slated to open next week for the start of the school year.
After the Edison visit, the School Board will meet at the district board room, 364 S. Park St., for the start of its meeting at 7:30 p.m.
The board will take action Tuesday on the final 2009-10 budget. It will also consider payment of August bills and payroll, and review the June financial report. It will consider approving contracts for administrators and off-schedule staff, student handbooks, two revised board policies, and a resolution with Educational Service District 123.
The board is scheduled to hear about a summer school program at Pioneer Middle School, as well as a report from the states' education agency related to the district's annual bus inspection.
Like the tour, board meetings are open to the public.
