$n$ U.S. Department of Health issues new regulations regarding privacy


The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued new regulations today requiring health care providers, insurers and others to let people know whenever their private health information has been breached.

To determine when that has occurred, the agency is also releasing an update regarding specific encryption and destruction methods that make protected health information unusable, unreadable, or indecipherable to unauthorized individuals.
