COLLEGE PLACE -- A cooperative preschool program at Davis Elementary is accepting applications for children 3 to 5 years old.
An orientation and registration is being held Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. at Davis, 31 S.E. Ash St., with preschool starting on Sept. 15.
Classes for the College Place Parent Cooperative Preschool meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week from 8:30-11 a.m. Tuition is $75 a month with a one-time $25 enrollment fee. Partial scholarships are available.
The cooperative, run through Walla Walla Community College, is different from traditional preschools because parents commit to play and learn beside their child in the classroom a few times each month. Parents enroll in the community college as part of the program, and meet once a month to seek parenting techniques and learn about their child's development.
This school year, the program welcomes Ingrid Olsen-Young as its new preschool teacher at Davis. Olsen-Young brings 20 years of experience teaching preschool in the Seattle area, according to a news release.
