Wellspring Diabetes Program to hold informational sessions

The sessions preview upcoming classes which begin Sept. 15.

The Wellspring Diabetes Program will hold several informational sessions at the Milton Adventist Church, 1244 N. Elizabeth St., across form Widner Electric on Highway 11.

The 90-minute sessions will take place at 7 p.m., Tuesday; at 7 p.m. on Sept. 9 and at 3 p.m. on Sept. 13.

The free informational sessions will preview topics that are to be covered in upcoming classes that will begin on Sept. 15.

The program is a DVD-based course that is designed to lead people who've been diagnosed as having Type 2 diabetes through instruction about how to make changes in their diets and other lifestyles, such as exercise and ways to manage stress.

"Diabetes has reached an epidemic level, and so many are learning to control or reverse diabetes," said Gladys Wentland, program coordinator at Milton Adventist Church.

"There are plenty of people who are looking for tools rather than stuffing a pill in their mouths," Wentland said. "The class is 16 hours over eight weeks."
