Christmas parades to kick off the season in Walla Walla, Milton-Freewater

Both Milton-Freewater and Walla Walla will kick of the holiday season this weekend with parades.

The Milton-Freewater Christmas parade is 6:30 p.m. Friday. It begins at the Dollar Store and ends at Freewater Park and Valley Christian Church on North Main Street where a Christmas tree will take place. Santa will arrive just before the lighting. There will be hot cider, cocoa, cookies and carolers.

Macy's Parade of Lights will be 6 p.m. Saturday in downtown Walla Walla on Boyer Avenue, Alder and Main streets and Fifth Avenue.

To warm up before and after the parade, the Walla Walla Public Library, 238 E. Alder St., will hold its Parade of Lights Celebration from 4:30-7 p.m. Members of Kappa Gamma Sorority will host activities for children. For details, call 527-4550.

Another attraction before the Walla Walla parade will be the Victorian Christmas Jubilee from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at Kirkman House Museum, 214 N. Colville St. There will be live music, refreshments and Victorian-era decorations. This event is free and open to the public. For information, call 529-4373.
