PORTLAND — Walla Walla University shot 56 percent from the floor and controlled the boards on the way to a 101-84 men’s basketball victory over Northwest Indian at the Rose City Basketball Classic here on Thursday.

The Wolves take a 3-9 record into today’s 2 p.m. game against Langara of British Columbia.

"NWI is a very athletic team," WWU coach Gerry Larson said. "We led by 18 at half, and we didn’t come out in the second half and step on them,"
Mark Moore led the Wolves with 23 points. Jonny Long chipped in 19 points, followed by 15 points from Terrance Talton and 12 points from Tristan Edwards.

Gerad Dauphin pulled down a game-high eight rebounds to help WWU beat NWI 38-27 on the boards.

NWI’s Marvin Hudson led all scorers with 24 points, and he grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Denzel Harvey scored 18 points and Mathias Claw scored 14 points for NWI.

"It was nice to get the win," Larson said. "But it was not necessarily one of our best performances."
