MILTON-FREEWATER — Shirley R. Waggoner, 71, of 54391 Walla Walla River Road died Dec. 3, 2009, at the Regency At The Park in College Place.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St. Private burial will follow in Milton-Freewater Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice through the funeral home.

Mrs. Waggoner was born Jan. 17, 1938, in Yellville, Ark., to Norman and Helen Hamlett Savage. She attended school in Harrison, Ark., and in Yakima.

She met Ray Waggoner in Yakima, and they married there on July 1, 1955. The couple moved to Milton-Freewater in 1959.

She worked for a short time at Elzora Manor Nursing Home, but her real joy was being a mom and spending time with her children at home.

She is survived by her husband at the home; three sons, Steve Waggoner of Hillsboro, Ore., Jim Waggoner of Walla Walla and Tony Waggoner of Milton-Freewater; a daughter, Anita Munoz of La Grande; a brother, Johnny Dale Savage of Harrison, Ark.; a sister, Janice Davenport of Harrison, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Jeffrey Schroeder.
