Impress Salon wraps up its "Invest" lecture series Thursday with a special focus on visual arts.

The event, in honor and celebration of the local arts community, will include a one-night-only boutique and gallery highlighting local artists. The salon will be transformed into a relaxed gallery setting for the evening. More than a dozen local artists will participate in a collaborative art project presented by Seattle company InChalk. Using chalk as the medium and a chalkboard as canvas, the artists will work individually to create an 8-foot-by-4-foot piece.

Impress Salon's lecture series has been an experiment in education, entertainment and the arts and was intended to help build community through dialogue. Topics at the Plaza Way salon have covered design, community, environment and performing arts. All events are free and open to the public. Hors d'oeuvres are served as well as local wines.

Thursday's finale begins at 7 p.m. at the salon, 1423 Plaza Way. For more details, including a list of participating artists, visit . Impress Salon, owned by Jan Corn, is also on Facebook.
