Burbank downs Mabton 53-32

MABTON — Columbia Burbank held a four-point lead at halftime then outscored Mabton 21-4 in the third quarter.


The Coyotes maintained that margin for a 53-32 girls prep basketball victory over the Vikings here Tuesday.


Tiffany Idler and Nicole Roberts led the Coyotes with 14 points each.


Idler also had a team-high six rebounds and seven assists.


"Mabton kept it close in the first quarter by playing a running, scrappy style of basketball and we tried to play it with them even though it is not our strength," C-B coach John Muchlinski. "In the second half we were conscientious to run our offenses," Muchlinski added. "We were able to wear them down with our post play.


The Coyotes return to action at Highland on Friday.
