Mac-Hi’s Saldana, Palacios all-GOL first-team honorees


MILTON-FREEWATER — Two Mac-Hi football players have earned all-Greater Oregon League first-team honors.


Sophomore kicker Francisco Saldana and senior defensive lineman Angel Palacios were named to the all-GOL first team.


Second team members included senior running back Kendall Brown, who also earned second-team defensive back honors, and senior linebacker Chris Brown, who also earned honorable mention at tight end.


Honorable mention went to senior offensive lineman Alex Cortez, senior RB Nick Watts, sophomore RB Lance Warne (also earning honorable mention at LB), junior DL Dylon Wagoner and sophomore DB Patrick Sheets.


Youth tennis lessons slated at Whitman in January


WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with the Whitman College women’s tennis program, is offering youth tennis lessons for all abilities with instruction from Whitman College tennis players and coaches.


Lessons for ages 5-12 are held at 3:30-5 p.m. Cost is $55.


Lessons for ages 12-18 are held at 5-7 p.m. Cost is $75.


Students will receive a program T-shirt. Lessons for both age groups are Monday through Friday, Jan. 11-15. Lessons will be held at Bratton Tennis Center, located at Whitman College. Students will have the opportunity to become better players or learn for the first time. Space is limited.

Youth indoor soccer late registration still available


WALLA WALLA — Late registration for Walla Walla Parks and Recreation’s youth indoor soccer is continuing on an as-available basis. Late registration grades K-8 is $55, and $20 per third child and any additional children. Scholarships are available to those that qualify, to request a scholarship application contact Parks and Recreation.


All teams will be comprised of both boys and girls. Players will be assigned to teams according to their grade and school they attend. Play will be 5-on-5 and will begin with practices on Jan. 9. Games and practices will take place at local school gymnasiums. Participants will receive a program T-shirt. Teams will be coached by volunteer coaches. Those interested in coaching should contact Parks and Recreation at 527-4527.


Registration may be completed online at www.ci.walla-walla.wa.us or at the Parks and Recreation Office, 55 Moore St. Participants may also contact the Parks and Recreation Office to have a registration form mailed to them.
