Indians pull out 52-50 SE B crossover over Pirates

POMEROY — Jake Hodnefield scored 13 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to help Touchet score a 52-50 Southeast B boys crossover basketball victory over Pomeroy in overtime here Tuesday.


The teams battled to a 45-45 tie in regulation play, and the Indians went 5-for-11 from the line on the way to a 7-5 edge in the overtime.


Marshall Byerley and Bo Segerman chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Touchet.


Justin Ruark led the Pirates with a game-high 17 points and Justin Bingman scored 10.


"We led by four at halftime," Touchet coach Tim McKeown said. "We went up by eight or so until the final few minutes of regulation.


"They worked the ball into the big man (Ruark)," he continued. "We played zone a little bit, but we were scrappy most of the time to get steals and deflections.


"We needed to drive the lanes, and Bo Segerman came in a did a good job of that to get to the line.


"We drew 11 shots at the line in the overtime and made five, and that was the d1fference," McKeown said.


The Indians return to action with a home game against Dayton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
