Nixyaawii puts 83 points on the scoreboard in 83-65 win over Cove

COVE, Ore. — Nixyaawii put four players in double digits and handed out 13 assists in rolling to its third win. The Golden Eagles posted an 83-65 win over Cove in non-conference boys basketball action.


"We shared the ball really well," Golden Eagle coach Aaron Noisey said. "It was a good test for our kids. It’s nice to see us get a win against a good team and it will give us something to build on as we get ready for league."


The Golden Eagles took a 24-17 lead after one quarter, and continued to build on that lead while running the final to 83-65.


Cove also put some points on the board as Jordan Brown scored 24 and his teammate, Jarod Wilty, hit for 21 in the losing cause.


Shawn Simpson grabbed a team-high eight boards, posted a team-high four assists, and led the Golden Eagles with a 34-point effort.


Isaiah Case scored 19, Anthony Bonifer added 13, and Joe Crawford tallied 11 as the Golden Eagles improved to 3-0.


Nixyaawii heads to the Pine Eagle Tourney in Halfway, Ore., Friday and will play defending Class 1A champion Powder Valley in Friday’s opening round.
