WALLA WALLA -- Blue lights will signal a call to stop and prevent child abuse Monday as part of a local agency's campaign.

Children's Home Society of Washington is holding the "Blue Candles of Hope" campaign as a way to show support for victims of child abuse.

The agency is selling votive candles for $5, and glass jar candles for $15, with proceeds going to support child-abuse-prevention programs locally. Free luminaries are also available.

Coordinators ask residents to display the candles or luminaries Monday in home windows or outside. The message can continue through the holiday season with residents displaying a blue lightbulb or blue candle in a home or business window.

The HomeTeam Parent Aide Program is the Children's Home Society program that focuses on prevention of child abuse. Children's Home Society partners with the Walla Walla Exchange Club for the HomeTeam program and the Blue Candles of Hope campaign. Children's Home Society is located at 1612 Penny Lane.
