Dean and Odie Harpe of 71 First St., Touchet, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a 1-4 p.m. open house Dec. 19, 2009, at Assumption Catholic Church Parish Hall.
The couple met while students at Touchet High School. They were married Dec. 13, 1959, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Touchet. Odie’s maiden name is Martin.
Dean Harpe was a farm hand for Delbert Dodd and later farmed with his father, R.W. Harpe, for 16 years. He was employed by Walla Walla County for 22 years, retiring in February 2004. He enjoys fishing, hunting and traveling with his brothers.
Odie Harpe was employed by Touchet School District in food service for 22 years. She retired in December 2006. She enjoys reading, crocheting and visiting with family.
Mr. and Mrs. Harpe have three daughters, Laurie Schuetze of Anchorage, Alaska, Robin Harpe of Walla Walla and Penni Sulkosky of Bonney Lake, Wash.; a son, Thomas Harpe of Payson, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren.
