Rebels undefeated in win of Hanford Holiday Hoopfest

RICHLAND — The Walla Walla Rebels eighth-grade AAU boys’ basketball team went undefeated over the weekend to win the Gold Division championship at the 12th annual Hanford Holiday Hoopfest.


In pool play on Saturday, the Rebels defeated Kennewick EKU, 52-42, and the Moses Lake Chiefs, 56-32.


On Sunday, the Walla Wallans routed Kennewick Crossfire, 60-22, to advance to the championship game, in which they defeated the Tri-City Blaze, 51-38. Spencer Locati and Gabe Porter led the Rebel scoring in that contest with 17 and 12 points, respectively.


Other Rebel players are Adam Eskil, Stuart Gillin, Eric Klicker, Adam Mathews, Forrest Swant and Peter Warinner. The team is coached by Mike Locati.


The Rebels, with a season record of 8-1, travel to Yakima next month for the 19th annual Martin Luther King Tournament.
