MILTON-FREEWATER -- A gas station along Highway 11 was robbed late Wednesday by a man wearing a Spider-Man mask, authorities said.

The Umatilla County Sheriff's Office reports that an employee of the Shell station at 84875 Highway 11 had closed the shop about 10:20 p.m. and had gotten into a vehicle with the store's night deposit when he was attacked.

A man described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and wearing the superhero mask opened the car door, sprayed the employee with pepper spray, and also hit another man who was driving the vehicle, said Umatilla County Sheriff's Sgt. John Shafer.

The masked man took the deposit, and got away on foot.

Shafer said it did not appear the employee or vehicle driver required medical attention.
