WALLA WALLA -- City Council members at their Wednesday meeting unanimously approved a $2.07 increase to monthly storm water fees for residential customers to help pay stricter environmental standards enacted by the Department of Ecology.

Residential utility customers currently pay $3.77 per month as part of their storm water management fee; starting in 2010 that fee increases to $5.84.

The money will be used to increase catch-basin cleaning, monitoring, consulting and other related services.
