Walla Walla University defeats Southwestern College

PHOENIX -- Walla Walla University overcame the hot-shooting Southwestern College team 77-75 in a men's basketball game here Thursday.

While SWC connected on 53 percent of its field-goal attempts (28-of-53), including 14-of-25 of its 3-point attempts, the Wolves hit a more modest 51 percent from the floor (30-of-59).

The Wolves also earned an edge at the free-throw line, hitting 12-of-14 tries to 5-of-8 for SWC.

The win gives the Wolves a 4-11 record on the season.

Gerard Dauphin led four Wolves in double-figures with 16 points.

The Wolves other top scorers were Ryan Spady 15, Jonny Long 11 and Tristan Edwards 10.

Edwards also ripped off a game-high six rebounds.

SAWC's Houston Friend led all scorers with 21 points, and AJ Koch scored 19.

Walla Walla led 37-35 at halftime.

Walla Walla returns to action Saturday, with a 7 p.m. game against American Sports University in San Bernardino, Calif.
