Early Sherman County run can't hold up against Nixyaawii

MORO, Ore. — Despite a 10-0 run to start the game by the Sherman County Huskies, Nixyaawii’s Golden Eagles rallied to beat them 75-54 here in a Big Sky League dual Friday night.

Nixyaawii rallied to tie the score at 14 in the first quarter and took off from there.

Shawn Simpson led the Eagles with 21 points.

"Simpson really lit the fire for us in the first half," Nixyaawii coach Aaron Noisey said. "The other guys were really looking to get him the ball, so it was a team effort."

Another big game was registered by freshman Rico McKay. He scored 19 points for the Eagles.

"McKay stepped up big for us tonight," Noisey said. "We were telling him to be aggressive and get to the basket. He did just that tonight."

Joe Crawford of the Eagles hit the boards for a team-high eight rebounds to go with six assists.

Anthony Crawford also had six assists for Nixyaawii.

The victory makes the Golden Eagles 6-0 overall, and 1-0 in league.

Nixyaawii played again Saturday against Central Christian.
