Juanita Darrow

MILTON-FREEWATER — Juanita L. Darrow, 86, of 53752 Appleton Road, died Dec.17, 2009, at the Providence St. Mary Medical Center, 401 W. Poplar St., Walla Walla.

A memorial service is planned for a later date. Contributions may be made to the Walla Walla Community Hospice through the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St.

Mrs. Darrow was born Jan. 27, 1923, in Tacoma to Robert and Avilla Foster. She lived and grew up in Multnomah, Ore., until age 11. The family moved to various locations, then returned to Oregon, where she finished her schooling in Echo.

She married Orville Darrow on March 6, 1949, in Spokane. They lived in Weston for 49 years and then moved to Milton-Freewater in 1998. Mr. Darrow preceded her in death Nov. 25, 1999. After her children were raised she begin working as a caregiver in different states, including Montana, California and Nebraska. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and being around her large family.

She is survived by three sons, Merlin Darrow of Milton-Freewater, Orville Darrow Jr. of Hillsboro, Ore., and Charles Leonard of Mount Crawford, Va.; two daughters, Anna Hadley of Salem and Linda Boyer of Milton-Freewater; a sister, Doris Koehler of Umatilla; 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Harold Leonard and Delbert Darrow; a daughter, Marilyn Liening; and two sisters, Ruth Foster and June Campbell.
