Ken and Fay Nicoles of 335 Kathleen Place celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary recently at a family dinner.
The couple met in Berlin, Germany, where Ken was a U.S. Air Force traffic controller at Berlin Airlift and Fay was with the British Army Occupational Forces. They were married Dec. 17, 1949, in Cambridge, England. Fay’s maiden name is Compton.
Ken Nicoles served in the Air Force for 23 years, retiring in 1968. He was a professional photographer for 35 years, retiring in 2008. He is a member of Professional Photographers of Washington, Elks and Masonic lodges, Shriners and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Nicoles enjoys flying and photography.
Fay Nicoles was employed by Dr. Bradford and Dr. Ballard at the Catherine Street Clinic, retiring in 1991. She is a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and St. Mary Auxiliary. She enjoys bridge, knitting and traveling.
Mr. and Mrs. Nicoles have two daughters, Terry Nichols and Sherry Nicoles, both of College Place; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Maria Nicoles of Fredericksburg, Va.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
