WAITSBURG — Waitsburg-Prescott unleashed a balanced scoring attack to defeat Mac-Hi, 50-43, here Saturday in non-conference boys basketball action.

Zach Bartlow and James Lehr led the way for W-P both with 10 points. Lucan Gerke and Ben Kiefel rolled double nines on the night as both finished with nine points and nine rebounds. Dustin Wooderchak added eight to the W-P win.

"It was a close game," W-P coach T.J. Scott said. "Our free throws (9-of-28) hurt us as we never could extend the lead and put them away."

Nick Stanford and Will Riley led the Pioneers with 12 points each. Ryley Croghan also got into double figures for the Pioneers as he finished with 10, and Zach Conlee added Mac-Hi’s other nine points.

"Stanford is really quick," Scott said. "He did a really good job of distributing the ball."

W-P improves to 4-1 on the season and will travel to the Helix Christmas tournament beginning December 29.

"We’re missing a lot of easy shots around the rim," Scott said. "Shooting under 50 percent from the line is going to cost us. We’ve got to get better to get where we want to go."
