Walla Walla resident Marisol Mata, 22, died Dec. 17, 2009, at Walla Walla General Hospital.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and from 9 am. until after the Rosary, which will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St., with Deacon Olegario and Dora Reyes of St. Patrick Catholic Church officiating. The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 425 W. Alder St. with the Rev. Jose Maldonado officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, 300 S.E. Myra Road, College Place.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice through the funeral home.
Miss Mata was born Feb. 13, 1987, in Nayarit, Mexico, to Pedro and Rufina Sanchez Mata. She graduated from high school. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
She was a very joyful girl and always had a beautiful smile on her face. She loved spending time with her mother all day. Being with children and talking with them brought her great joy. She especially enjoyed when people gave her balloons as she liked all of the bright colors and shapes. She also liked to listen to all kinds of music.
She is survived by her parents; four sisters, Guadalupe and Patricia Mata of Milton-Freewater, Reina Mata and Maria Teresa Lara of Walla Walla; a brother, Alejandro Martinez of Walla Walla; and grandparents Francisco Sanchez and Sara Mendoza of Mexico. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Julia Cortez.
