Milton-Freewater arrests made after crowd gathered outside store

Four arrests made Monday came after about 20 people were found being disorderly past midnight.


MILTON-FREEWATER -- As many as 20 people are believed to have gathered in riotous or disorderly conduct outside a local grocery store early Monday, leading to the arrest of four people.

City police Chief Doug Boedigheimer said his department received a call about 12:45 a.m. of a fight about to start or in progress near the Safeway grocery store, 455 N. Columbia St. Witnesses reported seeing up to 20 people being disorderly in the nearby street. As police showed up, several people ran away. Boedigheimer said his officers managed to detain six people, leading to the four arrests.

Area residents Oscar Lara, 20, and Serafin Ibarra Garcia, 18, both of 311 N. Elizabeth St. Unit B4, and Omar Ambriz, 21, of 1018 Parallel St. were booked into Umatilla County Jail on suspicion of riot and second-degree disorderly conduct, according to reports.

Also arrested was Hector Salinas, 19, of 260 N. Georgia Ave., East Wenatchee, and also on suspicion of riot and disorderly conduct.
