HEPPNER — Mac-Hi’s Andrea Roeder tied for game-high scoring honors with 13 points, but the Pioneers lost a rough-and-tumble contest to Grant Union, 36-29, at the Heppner basketball tournament here Tuesday.

The Pioneers are now 4-6 on the season after a contest that saw only 22 fouls called, 10 for the Prospectors and 12 for the Pioneers.

Sierra Burchell chipped in 11 points for Mac-Hi.

"We would have had more luck finding Santa Clause or a three-legged ballet dancer than we had scoring baskets," Mac-Hi coach Curtis Pumphrey said. "It was a sloppy, holiday-season game. Andrea Roeder and Sierra Burchell did show up to play, however."

The Pioneers fell behind 12-6 after the first quarter and never recovered.

McKenzie Nash scored 13 points for the Prospectors.

Mac-Hi returns to action on Monday with a home game against Riverside.
