PASCO — Pomeroy survived a slow third period to bounce back and outscore Tri-Cities Prep, 14-9, over the last eight minutes and produce a 46-37 Pirate victory here Tuesday in girls basketball action.

"We had a slow period at the beginning of the third quarter, where we let them back in the game," Pirates coach Nettie Severs said. "But we were able to push through that and play strong in the fourth quarter."

Kindsey Bott led the Pirates with 18 points and eight rebounds as Pomeroy won the battle on the glass, 30-25.

"Kindsey had a great game," Severs said. "She has been struggling, so it was nice to see her play well."

Sam Pegram led the Jaguars with 10 points.

Pomeroy improves to 3-4 overall as Karlie Martin and HayLee Koller joined Bott in double figures for the Pirates. Martin scored 11, and Koller added 11 points to go with her six rebounds, six assists and 10 steals.

The Pirates take a holiday break before returning to action Jan. 2 in an alumni game and then travel Jan. 5 to Lacrosse-Washtucna.

"I am pleased with our intensity and enthusiasm tonight," Severs said. "We need to work on knocking down free throws (7-of-23 on the night), and getting rid of that third-quarter lull."
