ArtWalla receives $10,000 grant for 'Windows on the Past'

ArtWalla's public art project, "Windows on the Past," will receive a $10,000 award from the National Endowment for the Arts in 2010.

The downtown mural is one of two Washington state projects selected by the NEA for funding. "Windows on the Past" is an outdoor photographic mural installed within the window openings of the historic Odd Fellows Temple façade in Heritage Park on Main Street. Photographs of people and artifacts from over 20 different ethnic and cultural groups that made up the population of the Walla Walla Valley from 1850-1950 are reproduced on steel panels.

ArtWalla continues to seek information on black and Latino families who lived here. Call 301-0185 for more information.
