WALLA WALLA -- A local gasoline station and convenience shop was robbed at gunpoint Monday, authorities said.
The Walla Walla Police Department reports that a man dressed in black with a bandana over his face walked into Taj Foodmart, at 5 W. Morton St., about 9:30 p.m., pulled out a handgun, and pointed it at the employee behind the counter. The suspect then instructed the employee to give him all the money in the register, to not make a sound, and to not call the police, according to a police report.
The employee told police she opened the register and placed the money drawer on the counter. The suspect was apparently wearing white cloth gloves and was last seen running out of the store heading west on Morton with close to $850 from the register.
A video surveillance camera captured the robbery, according to the report.
A front counter alarm was activated, and police arrived shortly after it occurred.
