TigerScots claim victory over Pendleton JV at Oregon Trail Classic

PENDLETON — Weston-McEwen claimed its first girls basketball victory of the season here Tuesday, defeating the Pendleton junior varsity 43-29 in the consolation round of the Oregon Trail Classic in the Pendleton Convention Center.

Sydney Porter scored 12 points and Morgan Entze added 10 to pace the TigerScots’ offense. Amanda Fowler led the Buckaroos with 11 points and Haylea Fetterhoff added six points on a pair of 3-point baskets.

Weston-McEwen dominated the backboards 50-26, with Makayla Christopher and Entze claiming 14 boards each to lead the way. Fowler had 10 rebounds for Pendleton.

"We’ve been stressing team," first-year W-M coach Amber Doremus said. "And this win was a team effort, with 16 points coming off our bench."

The TigerScots play a non-league game at DeSales Tuesday and then open Blue Mountain Conference play the following Friday at Stanfield.
