FOREST GROVE — The Weston-McEwen TigerScots volleyball finished fourth in state after losing to top-ranked Blanchet Catholic before downing Lakeview and Elgin here Friday and Saturday in the Oregon Class 2A state playoff tournament.
The TigerLcots lost 13-25, 25-23, 25-11, 15-25, and 15-12 to Blanchet on Friday.
"It was a hotly contested, hard-fought match against Blanchet," coach Shawn White said. "A couple of line calls went against us in the final sets that could have been called differently."
Weston-McEwen won in straight sets against Lakeview and Elgin Saturday to claim its sixth-straight top-six state finish with a trophy.
The TigerScots won against Lakeview 25-18, 25-15 and 25-16.
W-M then beatup on Elgin, a league rival, 25-18, 25-18 and 25-15.
"We made considerable improvement over our district performance compared to how well we played at state," White said.
Presley Pahl led W-M in four stasticial categories. Pahl had 54 digs, 47 kills, 20 blocks and eight aces over the three-game tournament.
Other stasticial leaders in the tournament included several other TigerScots.
Renae Baumann had 32 digs, 31 kills and seven aces.
Morgan Entze had 32 digs, 55 assists and 13 blocks.
And Jessica Stevens finished with 15 kills and 17 blocks.
"We were really shooting for first place," White said. "We really did play well, though, and gave 100 percent effort. We did what we could do and I’m very pleased with our finish."
