WALLA WALLA -- The Walla Walla Rural Library District board will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Board members will also hold a hearing on the district's 2010 budget
The meeting will be at the district offices, 37 Jade St. in Walla Walla.
Items on the agenda include reports on the activities at the Burbank, Prescott, Touchet and Vista Hermosa libraries. Board members will also discuss budget options for the next year and a letter to the city regarding the 2010 interlocal agreement between the city and the rural library district.
According to Punkey Adams, district executive director, the 2010 budget includes plans for a branch library in suburban Walla Walla that would be available for all area residents who are eligible to hold a WALNET library card.
Along with Walla Walla, this includes the unincorporated area of Walla Walla County, the city of Prescott and Walla Walla Community College students, staff and faculty.
Because Waitsburg provides library services through the Weller Library and College Place does not have a contract for library services, residents in those cities must pay a $135 non-resident fee to obtain a library card.
