GLADSTONE, Ore. — Mac-Hi’s boys soccer team will be looking to exact some revenge on La Salle Saturday at 3:30 p.m. when the Pioneers and the Falcons get together in Wilsonville to decide the Oregon Class 4A state championship.
It was La Salle that derailed the Pioneers 3-1 in last year’s state quarterfinals, ending a run of three consecutive state championship seasons for the Pioneers.
Mac-Hi earned its way back to the state finals for the fourth time in five years here Tuesday with a 2-1 triumph over Molalla.
It was the third straight postseason win for the Pioneers, who edged Marist 2-1 Nov. 10 in Milton-Freewater and then blanked Phoenix 1-0 Nov. 14 in a quarterfinal game in Phoenix.
La Salle, meanwhile, advanced to this year’s championship game Tuesday with a 1-0 victory over Cottage Grove in a game played in Portland. The Falcons won the game with a 4-2 edge in a shootout.
Earlier, La Salle stopped Sisters 4-1 in its first postseason match and followed with a 2-1 victory over Central in the quarterfinals.
No other details on Mac-Hi’s semifinal win were submitted.
