Walla Walla Clinic wins statewide accolades

Premera Blue Cross singled out the clinic for its performance in adult and pediatric medicine.

WALLA WALLA - Walla Walla Clinic has been awarded the "Healthcare Quality Award" from Premera Blue Cross health insurance company.

The Tietan Street clinic is one of 28 in Washington state to receive recognition. Premera noted the facility was given two awards, the only clinic out of a field of 700 practices of all sizes to do so.

These awards are recognition of the clinic's commitment to delivering high-quality care to patients, said Daven Rosener, communications manager for Premera.

"These clinics, all 28, they are setting the benchmark and leading the way in performance and quality."

The honors are determined through a score card methodology using claims data.

Specifically, the Walla Walla Clinic got kudos for adult and pediatric medicine in areas including treating asthma in children and adults, cholesterol screening and imaging practices, diabetes care, up-to-date information when prescribing antibiotics and providing the recommended number of well-child visits.

"This is good news for them and good news for Walla Walla, to know one of their clinics is a top performer," Rosener said. "They set a good example."
