Pullman man charged with Walla Walla rape

Kyle S. Bushman is accused of raping a woman at her apartment in March.

WALLA WALLA -- A man accused of raping a woman at her Walla Walla apartment in March was booked into the County Jail this week.

Kyle S. Bushman, 30, of Pullman, is charged in Walla Walla County Superior Court with second-degree rape. He wasn't found immediately after the rape was reported, but the charge was filed April 10 and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Bushman was apprehended a few weeks ago in Latah County, Idaho, on an unrelated matter. He was transported to the Walla Walla County Jail on Tuesday to face the local rape charge. Bail was set at $50,000.

The woman reported to police that she was awakened by a knock on her front door about 7 a.m. March 29. She reportedly didn't know the man who knocked, but allowed him to enter her apartment after he asked if he could come in for a few minutes.

While there, the man allegedly raped the woman. She alerted a neighbor who saw the suspect before he left the area and recognized him as Bushman, according to a police report filed in court.
