I'm thankful I can trust in Jesus Christ as Lord

When I was asked to write this article an excitement came over me. At the same time, I was frightened because of the realization that so many people would be reading this. I thought, what an opportunity to share my life with you!
My name is Walt Emry; I am the pastor of the Cornerstone Landmark Missionary Baptist Church here in Walla Walla. I’ve been a pastor for 19 years. I have been married to the same wonderful woman, Maggie, for 27 years, and we have three children: Sara, 25; Bret, 23; and Penny, 21. So, with that, I would like to share a few thoughts with you.
This country is in the holiday season mode and it starts with Thanksgiving Day. What a perfect time to talk about what we are thankful for. If one was to ask, "What are you thankful for?" to a friend, he would get answers like: My family, my job, etc. ... and for those things we are to be very thankful. In these days of economic crisis, family crises, seemingly everywhere you turn there’s uncertainty.
I was talking to a gentleman not long ago about the condition of not only this country but the world; his remark was "I hope I’m dead before it gets any worse." This was coming from a man I admire and respect. I ask you, as an American citizen of any age, have the conditions of this country gotten better or worse? I would say worse.
But there is a person we can turn to and trust in. No matter the condition this country and this world may be in. His name is Jesus. This is the same Jesus who shed His precious blood on a cross at a place called Calvary to save your soul. That’s who and what I’m thankful for today. Jesus Christ the Lord is in complete control of this entire world. Even this universe.
Colossians 1:16-17 says, "For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers, all things were created by Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist."
Jesus Christ is the creator and sustainer of this entire universe.
You can release all your cares, your hurts, your crises, and your financial problems over to Jesus. He has all the answers for you and your entire family. There isn’t any problem bigger than God.
Matthew 11:28 says, "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest." The reason He came to this earth was to die. He died in your place for your sin. He died to save your soul from hell. John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me." II Corinthians 5:21 "For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."
Would you believe and trust in Jesus today as your personal savior?!
Jesus Christ is what this country and this world needs. It’s been said we are no longer a Christian nation. But I believe that we still are. Jesus wants to be the center and the focal point of this world. Jesus is the only one who’s going to keep this nation blessed and prospering.
Would you consider accepting Jesus Christ as your personal savior today? He is the only one who can give you eternal life in heaven.
Everlasting life is a simple plan from God. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Romans 10:13 says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
I am very thankful for what Jesus Christ has done in my life and for my family. May God bless you and your family this holiday season.
