YAKIMA — Wa-Hi’s Aaron Nelson and J.P. Wolpert both took 13th in their flights, with Rachel Nelson and Denali Molitor each placing 15th in their flights, at the Sunfair cross country meet here Saturday.
For the boys, Nelson’s 16:02 netted him 13th in the seventh flight, the fastest flight of the meet. Wolpert’s 13th came with a 16:24 finish in the sixth flight.
Other boy finishers included Austin Morgan (16:48, 16th, Flight 5), Sean Newcomb (17:50, 42nd, Flight 4), Dustin Taylor (18:29, 45th, Flight 3), Jeremiah Mason (18:15, 26th, Flight 2) and Blake Lewis (17:46, 15th, Flight 1).
On the girls side, Nelson’s 19:15 and Molitor’s 20:25 earned them 15th-place finishes in their flights.
Other girls finishing for Wa-Hi included Emma Burgess (21:12, 24th), McKelle Wilwand (24:01, 47th) and Cynthia Ongers (25:55, 56th).
"We continue to make headway and I am pleased with the performances overall," Blue Devils coach Mike Locati said. "This is a tough course. You cannot let down at any moment or your pace will really suffer.
"We will have this next week off and rest up," he said. "We have had three meets in eight days and the legs need the rest. We’ll get a good week-and-a-half training and a break from racing, re-charge then head into the last league meet ready to perform well."
