SALEM -- Former area resident Donald "Don" Hermanns, 83, died Oct. 1, 2007, at Salem Memorial Hospital.
A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Oct. 17 at the Keizer Elks Lodge No. 2472, 4250 Cherry Ave. N.E., Keizer, Ore. Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service & Oakleaf Crematory, 605 Commercial St. S.E., Salem, assisted with arrangements.
Mr. Hermanns was born in Prescott on Jan. 15, 1926, to Andrew "Andy" and Dorothy Strahm Hermanns. He attended school in Prescott and Walla Walla.
He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Janet Geis in Spokane on Dec. 31, 1950. She died in 2000.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, traveling and being with his friends and family.
He is survived by his companion, Bonnie Orr; three sons, Greg Hermanns of Cincinnati, Gary Hermanns of Santa Cruz, Calif. and Randal Hermanns of Bend, Ore.; two sisters, Barbara and Jeri, both of Walla Walla; a brother, Clifford Hermanns of Walla Walla; and five grandchildren.
