Slow starts hurt Helix in loss to Elgin

ELGIN — Helix started slow too often and lost a four-game non-conference volleyball match to Elgin here on Tuesday.
The scores for Elgin were 25-18, 25-14, 22-25 and 25-17.

The Grizzlies are now 16-6 on the season and play another non-conference match at Helix with Touchet at 5:30 Thursday.

The stat leaders for Helix were Chyanne Hack with 11 kills, Britney Smith with eight kills. Addie Terjeson and Megan Schroeder had seven kills each.

"We came out and started slow in games one, two and four. We dug ourselves a hole in each of those games, and you can’t do that against a good team like Elgin," Helix coach Tammie Parker said. "In game three we didn’t do that."
