Tri-Cities Prep corrals Bulldogs, 3-1, in SE B volleyball match

DAYTON — Dayton’s Kayla Turner served five aces and slammed four kills, but undefeated Tri-cities Prep nudged past the Bulldogs 3-1 in a Southeast B District Southern Division volleyball match-up here Thursday.


Tri-Cities Prep improved to 5-0 in the South with the win, and the Bulldogs dropped to 1-3 with the loss.


Dayton’s Turner also served 24-of-25 on the night and dispersed 16 assists.


The Bulldogs’ Shelby Smith went 10-for-11 at the service line with three aces; Nicole Lambert served 12-for-12 with one ace, and she flipped up eight digs; Nicole Lockard granted nine assists; Kayla Dedloff slammed eight kills; and Mieke Masselink blasted 13 kills and blocked two hits.


"We’re young, but we keep improving," Dayton coach Shannon Turner said after seeing her team’s record dip to 1-6 on the season. "If we keep working on being more consistent, we can still pull off some wins."


The Bulldogs get three chances next week, twice against rival Waitsburg-Prescott. Dayton hosts W-P Monday in a makeup game, entertains Garfield-Palouse Tuesday in a cross-division match and then travels to W-P on Thursday.
