RICHLAND — Waitsburg-Prescott’s Isabel Benito, Maya Garcia and Kristen Potter finished 2-3-4, respectively, here Thursday during a small-school cross country meet at W.E. Johnson Park.
Host Liberty Christian’s Natalie April was the fastest girl on the 3.1-mile course in a time of 21 minutes, 14 seconds.
Benito, who usually finishes right behind Garcia, was awarded second place Thursday in a time of 23:03, although both Garcia and Potter recorded the exact same time. W-P’s Mary Alice Potolicchio finished eighth in 25:11 and Christy Poirier took 14th in 31:19.
Waitsburg-Prescott was one of only two complete girls teams and posted a first-place finish with 24 points. Tri-Cities Prep finished with 32.
Walla Walla Valley Academy entered two girls, with Casey Roosma taking 12th place in 26:49 and Kainia Salango 13th at 30.02.
On the boys side, Seth Deal led Waitsburg-Prescott with an 18:31 clocking, good for fourth place. Nick Lumetta of Tri-Cities Prep was the medalist in 18:04 in leading the Jaguars to first place with 23 points.
Waitsburg-Prescott’s boys were distant second with 57 points and Liberty Christian also had a full team and totaled 81 points.
W-P’s Josh Smith was seventh in 19:10, Michael Montgomery was 10th in 25:11, Matthew Montgomery 16th in 20:19 and John Hockersmith 20th in 21:06.
Chinonsa Opara, WWVA’s lone entry, finished 14th in 19:55.5.
