Waitsburg-Prescott knocks off WWVA in SE B volleyball play

COLLEGE PLACE — Led by Genesis Pearson’s 11 kills, Waitsburg-Prescott defeated Walla Walla Valley Academy 25-18, 24-26, 25-10 and 25-20 in a Southeast B South Division volleyball match here Thursday.


W-P improved to 1-4 with the win. The Knights are now 3-5.


W-P’s Pearson also served 15-for-18 with five aces; Ronie Hulce slammed nine kills; Angelina Paniagua had 10 digs; Megan Withers had nine digs; and Amanda Weis handed around 20 assists.


The Knights’ Bri Leen had nine kills. Leen and Tori Buell each blocked five hits in the match. Sandy Avalos had 19 digs, and Kristi Buell had 11 assists.


"We played together, and it was a team effort," W-P coach Jessie Buehler said. "We got to go deep into our bench and give people some playing time."


W-P plays a 7 p.m. make-up game at Dayton on Monday.
