Walla Walla resident LaVerne Alice Abrams, 90, died Oct. 11 at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center, 1710 Plaza Way.
The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain View Cemetery, 2120 S. Second Ave. The Rev. Roland Shanks of Central Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church through Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St., Walla Walla, WA 99362.
Mrs. Abrams was born Jan. 5, 1919, in Russellville, Mo. to Frank Baker Anderson and Lillian Hunter Anderson. She graduated from Yakima High School in 1937 and attended Kinman Business College in Spokane.
She married Francis C. Abrams in Yakima on March 29, 1938. The family moved to Walla Walla in 1947. She was a secretary for Sherwood and Roberts Mortgage Co. She later worked in the central processing department at St. Mary Medical Center, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of Central Christian Church for more than five years. She was a life member of Lady Elks No. 287 and St. Mary's Service League. When her children were young she was a leader for their Blue Bird and Cub Scout groups.
She liked to cook, sew and enjoyed gardening. She cherished her friends. She always had a helping hand for those in need.
She is survived by a son, Jay L. Abrams of Walla Walla; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Linda K. Abrams Cox; a sister, Arlene Cox; a brother, Vendal Anderson; and two grandsons.
