Warrior soccer teams turn back Tacoma

The WWCC men prevail 1-0 and the women roll to a 5-1 victory in NWAACC soccer matches in Tacoma over the weekend.

TACOMA -- Walla Walla's men's and women's soccer teams notched victories over Tacoma here over the weekend.

The Warrior men prevailed 1-0 on Juan Garcia's unassisted goal at the 86th minute of play.

The Warriors improved their season record to 8-1-0 and take a 5-1-0 NWAACC Eastern Division mark into a Wednesday match in Spokane. The Titans of the Western Division dropped to 1-5-0.

Walla Walla's women's team had a much easier time of it as Tahlia O'Laughlin and Kati Lucas scored two goals each in powering the Warriors to a 5-1 victory over the Titans. They each contributed one assist as well in helping the Warriors improve to 10-1-0 on the season.

Emma Hawn accounted for WWCC's fifth goal. Jaymie Balcom and Teresa Lopez were credited with an assist each.

The Warrior women also travel to Spokane where they will put their Eastern Division-leading 7-0-0 record on the line against the Sasquatch.

The women's match is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the men's match at 4.
