IONE, Ore. — Helix eked out a tough five-game Big Sky Conference volleyball match from Ione here on Tuesday.
The Grizzlies nipped the Cardinals 18-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-16 and 15-13.
The win gives the Grizzlies a 4-0 Big Sky record and a 19-6 record on the season.
"It was a very close match," Helix coach Tammie Parker said.
Leaders for Helix included Chyanne Hack with 15 kills and 22-for-23 serving.
Britney Smith had eight kills; Megan Schroeder had seven kills; and Abbie Terjeson had six kills.
Terjeson also served 23-for-23 at the line with three aces.
"Ione is really a tough team," Parker said. "We’re glad to walk out of that gym with a win."
The Grizzlies return to actions with a 5:30 p.m. match against Echo on Thursday.
