Walla Walla police investigate morning robbery

WALLA WALLA -- Walla Walla Police detectives are investigating two incidents, including a robbery, reported early this morning.

The first incident involved a potential attempted robbery of a man near Barnaby's Bar and Restaurant at 405 Wellington Ave. shortly before 6:52 a.m. The man told police he was walking when he noticed a white Camaro that appeared to be following him.

The vehicle then pulled into the parking lot at Barnaby's, and a man in the vehicle tried to talk to the man walking to the bus stop, said police Sgt. Matt Wood.

The suspect then got out of the vehicle and started running after the victim, but the victim was able to get away, Wood said.

In another incident, a man arrived at the Walla Walla Police Station on Third Avenue to report being attacked by two men.

The second victim, who was at the police station shortly after 7 a.m., said he had been struck in the face and robbed of cash by the two men as he walked to a bus stop. The attack was reported as occurring near White Street and Isaacs Avenue. The victim also reported seeing the men get into a white Camaro.

The man was taken to a local hospital to be treated for facial injuries, Wood said.

The suspects were simply described as men, possibly in their 20s.

Wood said the case was still developing, and no arrests had been made.
