SPOKANE — Margo Hickman’s goal in the 45th minute was the only offense either team could generate here Wednesday as Walla Walla nipped Spokane 1-0 in a women’s NWAACC Eastern Division soccer match.
The victory kept the Warriors undefeated in league with an 8-0-0 mark. Walla Walla is 11-1-0 on the season heading into a Saturday home match against Treasure Valley beginning at noon.
Spokane saw its record tumble to 5-2-1 in the league and 5-3-2 overall.
Kati Lucas was awarded an assist on Hickman’s goal. Jordan Simkins recorded the shutout in goal for the Warriors.
It was a different story for the WWCC men’s team, which absorbed a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Sasquatch.
The loss dropped Walla Walla to 5-2-0 in the NWAACC East and 8-2-0 overall. Columbia Basin now stands at 3-2-3 in league and 5-3-4 overall.
Sam Palmer scored Spokane’s first goal two minutes into the game and Andrew Mastronardi added what proved to be the winning goal at the 47th minute.
Mikey Ramos tallied the Warriors’ lone goal at the 74th minute, assisted by John Dolphus.
Ryan Skay was credited with a Spokane assist on Mastronardi’s score.
