WALLA WALLA -- Two area men have been arrested in connection with an attack and robbery, and a potential attack, each reported Wednesday.

Derek Douglas Schultz, 23, of 360 S. Fourth St.; and Emmanuel Serrano, 23, of 150 S. Wilbur Ave., No. 61; were each booked into Walla Walla County Jail Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree robbery and second-degree theft.

Schultz and Serrano were arrested within 12 hours of reports by two men who had been approached, and in one case, attacked, by two men.

Both victims reported seeing the men in a white Camaro, which police have since seized, said Walla Walla Police Sgt. Matt Wood this morning.

One victim, 24-year-old Kevin Bidwell, came into the police station Wednesday morning, bleeding from his face, and described being jumped and robbed of his wallet by two men who then got into a white Camaro.

Bidwell had been walking about 7 a.m. near White and Portland streets when the attack occurred, according to a police report.

In another case, 50-year-old Shane Miller reported being followed by someone in a white Camaro as he walked by Barnaby's Bar and Restaurant, 405 Wellington Ave., just before 7 a.m. Wednesday. Someone then got out of the vehicle and chased Miller, but he was able to get away, police said.

While following leads on the case, detectives came across a Camaro that seemed to match, and the arrests were made, Wood said. Detectives were also searching the residence where the men were arrested for possible evidence, he added.
