MILTON-FREEWATER -- Dorothy Sidney Daines, 81, of Milton-Freewater died Oct. 15, 2009, at her home.
Visitation will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. today at Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-Bishop, 131 E. Byers Ave., Pendleton. The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Olney Cemetery, 865 Tutuilla Road, Pendleton.
Miss Daines was born Sept. 4, 1928, in Baker City, Ore., to Fred and Rita Fluty Daines. She attended school in Baker City.
Her working career began as a clerk for Woolworth's dime store and Bashe Sagis Hardware Store. She worked at C.C. Anderson's in Baker City and the Bon Marche in both Pendleton and Walla Walla in advertising as a display artist and sign painter. She also worked 21 years at the Pendleton Woolen Mills, quitting only to care for her elderly mother, her sister and brother who all died of cancer.
She moved to Milton-Freewater in 2002.
She is survived by a sister, Marjorie Crow of Milton-Freewater; and three nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Justus; a brother, Ken Daines; and a great nephew, Shawn Higgins.
